TikTok Slideshow Not Downloading? Here's How to Fix It

If a TikTok slideshow won't download, it's almost always because the downloader only handles video files. A photo slideshow isn't a video file; it's a set of images. The fix is to use a downloader with slideshow/image support, like GoTikSave's slideshow downloader: paste the post link and save the photos.

First, how to tell a slideshow from a video. Then the three common failure causes and the fixes that actually work.

First: is it actually a slideshow?

A quick tell before you troubleshoot. Open the post in TikTok:

This matters because downloaders fetch a video file (MP4). A slideshow post has no MP4 on TikTok's servers in the way a normal video does. It has a set of image files, sometimes with a generated preview. A video-only downloader asks for the MP4, gets nothing usable, and fails. Retrying won't help; it fails due to a format mismatch rather than a network glitch.

Cause 1: Your downloader doesn't support image posts

Symptom

The downloader spins, errors out, or returns a tiny broken file for carousel posts while normal videos work fine.

Fix

Use the slideshow mode. In GoTikSave, paste the slideshow's link and look for the image download options instead of MP4. Each photo saves individually at its uploaded resolution. Our dedicated page walks through it: TikTok slideshow downloader.

Cause 2: You copied a single photo's link, not the post

Symptom

The downloader says "video not found" even though the post clearly exists.

Fix

Make sure the link points to the whole post (tiktok.com/@user/video/...), not a photo opened in a lightbox or a screenshot someone sent you. Open the post itself in TikTok, tap Share → Copy link, and paste that. (Refresher: how to copy a TikTok video link.)

Cause 3: The post was deleted or made private

Symptom

The downloader reports the post can't be fetched, and opening the link in TikTok shows "Video unavailable."

Fix

There isn't one, for any tool. Deleted and private posts are gone from TikTok's public data. No downloader can retrieve them. This is the same wall as private videos: a legitimate tool tells you clearly instead of hanging.

What about the music on a slideshow?

Slideshows often have a trending sound attached, and people ask for "the MP3 of the slideshow." If the post has an audio track, the "Download MP3 Audio" button (how it works) behaves the same as for videos. If the carousel is silent, there's no audio to extract. The button simply won't appear, and that's correct behavior, not a bug.

Saving slideshow photos on iPhone vs Android

Once you have the image files, the last step differs slightly by phone:

iPhone

Long-press a downloaded photo and choose "Save to Photos," or find it in the Files app under Downloads and share it to your library. iOS keeps web downloads out of the camera roll by default — this trips people up, but it's Apple's design, not a download failure.

Android

Downloaded images land in the Downloads folder and usually appear in your gallery app right away. From there you can move them into any album.

Either way, save the photos at their original resolution and skip any "HD enhancer" apps in between. They can't add detail the upload didn't have.

A note on "slideshow to video" converters

Some tools offer to stitch the photos into an MP4 for you. That works, but know what you're getting: a re-encoded video assembled from the images, not TikTok's original. Quality depends on the converter, and the file is bigger than the photos. If you just want the pictures, download the images directly. It's faster and lossless.

Frequently asked questions

Why do some downloaders handle slideshows and others don't?

Because slideshows are image sets, not video files. A downloader built only around MP4 extraction has nothing to fetch. Slideshow support means the tool also reads the post's image data — a separate code path.

Can I download all photos from a slideshow at once?

It depends on the tool. GoTikSave lists the post's images so you can save each one. Bulk ZIP download isn't something we promise. Be wary of sites that do and then ask you to install an extension.

The slideshow downloads but the images are low quality. Why?

You get the resolution the creator uploaded. If they posted compressed screenshots, no downloader can recover detail that was never uploaded. We never upscale — what you see is the original.

Do slideshow downloads have watermarks?

The images TikTok serves for carousels don't carry the video watermark overlay. What you download is the photo as posted.

Can I save someone else's slideshow and repost it?

Technically yes, legally careful: reposting someone's photos as your own can violate copyright and TikTok's terms. Downloading for personal use is the safe lane.
